New Orleans The Decline: The Geography of a Recession by LaToya Egwuekwe This slideshow was sent to me by a friend from Hamilton, Montana.  It vividly and graphically shows the more than doubling of the unemployment rate, county by county, state by state, over a little more than two years from January 2007 when unemployment was 4.6% to June 2010 when we were at 9.7%.

Worth a look to understand the dilemma faced as the fall comes upon us and political fortunes and weighed by the impact of the recession.
